Unlike standard crimp connectors, Solder ‘N Seal connectors eliminate failure due to corrosion, vibration, mis-connection (over or under crimping) and wire pull-out.

SOLDER ‘N SEAL INSTRUCTIONS

GM no longer recommends crimped connections when performing repairs to computer, sensor or related harness wires or pigtail replacements. Due to very low currents, it is important to solder all wire splice joints to ensure good electrical conductivity, and to properly seal the repair to prevent moisture or corrosion from future occurrence. * Heating with an open flame may result in unsatisfactory connections. Use of a heat gun is strongly recommended. See page D11-17 for #814127 Hot Air Gun.
